Education Ministry
CHRISTIAN: Dear Lord, what is Your will for my life?
GOD: Do you really want to know?
CHRISTIAN: Is that You, God?
GOD: You seem surprised.
CHRISTIAN: It’s just that You’ve never really spoken to me before.
GOD: I speak to you every day. You’ve never really listened before. But now that I have your attention, do you really want to know My will?
CHRISTIAN: Oh, yes. More than anything.
GOD: Very well. Love Me with all your heart and love the people I place in your life.
CHRISTIAN: That sounds familiar. I think I’ve read that in the Bible. Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of, You know, my career. What do You want me to do with my life?
GOD: I just told you. I want you to love Me with all your heart and love the people I place in your life.
CHRISTIAN: What does that have to do with my career? Wait a minute…are you calling me into the ministry?
GOD: Now you are listening.
CHRISTIAN: But I’m not a public speaker. I’m not the preacher type.
GOD: Who said anything about being a preacher? There is a lot more to ministry than preaching and teaching. Besides, I have plenty of those already.
CHRISTIAN: Then what do you have in mind?
GOD: If you are truly serious about knowing and following My will, you must be absolutely convinced that there is nothing more important than My interests – not even your career.
CHRISTIAN: What exactly are Your interests?
GOD: On this world, it’s the people. I want them to know Me and love Me, just like you do. After all, that is why I have kept you on this planet; so you could tell them. If I did not want you involved in My interests on earth, I would have brought you home years ago.
CHRISTIAN: So how do I get involved? I mean, how do I know my part? Say, isn’t this how our conversation began?
GOD: Indeed, it is. But now I think you are ready to listen. First, you and I need to talk every day. Then, you just tell others what I tell you…one day at a time.
CHRISTIAN: I know, prayer and evangelism – two purposes of the church. We studied about those last year.
GOD: I am not talking about another study. I am talking about the answer to your prayer. My will for your life is that you love Me. And when you really love Me with all your heart, you will want to spend time with Me. You will also love the people I place in your life, and want them to know Me as well. As for you, there is nothing more important that this.
CHRISTIAN: But don’t You care about the other areas of my life?
GOD: Yes. I have a great interest in your career, your future spouse, your children. But these will mean so much more to you once you have settled on My purpose for your life.
CHRISTIAN: What’s that about a future spouse, Lord?
GOD: Patience, My child. One day at a time.
