Education Ministry
There is no doubt about it, children are different. They come in a great assortment of shapes and sizes with an even greater variety of personalities. This diversity is what makes childhood (and life itself) so interesting. Yet there is a common characteristic they all share: Kids grow up. In spite of those nostalgic thoughts of Neverland, kids cannot stay kids forever. Nor would we want them to. As a parent, one of our greatest joys is to watch our children mature into healthy, respectable, well-adjusted adults. Even when they are young children, their occasional mature behavior makes us swell with parental pride.
The Christian life is no different. We, as God’s children, also come in a variety of types. We have different personalities, gifts, and passions; and we express our faith in diverse ways. Yet the same truth applies to all of us: We must grow up. The Bible does speak of different degrees of spiritual maturity, but only with the expectation that all Christians grow – that we intensify our devotion to Christ, development in the disciplines, progress in our pursuit of godliness and purity, and deepen our love for God and others. And like a proud parent, God must smile when our maturity shines through.
Since we live to please our heavenly Father, I want to encourage you to be intentional about your spiritual growth. One way you can do this is by participating in a Spring 2005 Disciple Life Courses. Here is a list of what is available and when they begin:
• TeamKid for preschoolers (ages 3-K) starts February 13.
• Bible Buddies for children (grades 1-3) starts February 13.
• Bible Drill for children (grades 4-6) already in progress.
• Continuing Adult Discipleship already in progress.
• Mother Wise “Restore My Heart” for ladies starts February 13. Mentoring Moms are Jean Tucker, Jackie Rumble, and Ann Duggan. Please note the changed starting date.
• “The Making of a Man” for men starts February 13.
All of these classes begin at 5:45 PM except for “Restore My Heart,” which begins at 5:15 PM. If you have not already signed up, or are not already involved in a class, please use your registration form to communicate your interest in participating in one of these classes. If you would like further details, please feel free to call me. I would love to talk with you. May the Lord bless your desire and quest for spiritual growth.
