Music Ministry
I know it is hard to believe but Christmas is right around the corner, and you can hear the buzz everywhere you go. The retailers are taking Halloween down and putting Christmas in its place. This is a busy season of the year for all of us with Thanksgiving, holiday concerts, Christmas parties, and family gatherings. The family is very important, especially in this time of the year, but what is also important is to have good wholesome entertainment that will not only teach you something but will also not rot your mind.
I was reading an email I received the other day, some of you have probably seen it, talking about the stranger that Dad brought home to stay with us. He was a very good storyteller and very entertaining. He made us laugh and cry and could hold our attention for hours. The stranger did not follow the house rules of no cursing and he made drinking and smoking look appealing. This story was, of course, talking about the TV. I would like to encourage all of you to take a second look at the things that you watch and ask yourself if this is feeding your soul with the right kind of nutrition. We have watched so much TV that we have become desensitized to the nature of the things on it and little by little those things begin to creep into our lives. Now I am not saying there is nothing good on TV, but there is a lot of bad; teaching it is ok to lie, and ok to have premarital intercourse and that drinking is acceptable.
Think about it, is the TV teaching your children different morals than what you are trying to teach them? I heard and old saying one time that said, ?¢‚Ǩ?ìWhat?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s down in the well is going to come up in the bucket.?¢‚Ǩ¬ù Whatever you keep putting down there in the well of your soul will eventually come out of your mouth, or start changing the way you think about issues and topics. The Devil is real and he will use whatever he can to distract you from doing God?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s work here on earth. I pray that you will take a close look at the things you are putting into your spirit man and if they are not of God, then do some spiritual house cleaning. God Bless and keep you! Lanny
