Music Ministry

Posted on October 12, 2006 ...

This week, I was struggling with the idea of what to write. So, I was in the office joking with Jean Tucker and Barbara about what I should write. We joked around about a few ideas then I suggested that since it is my birthday this week, I could just put a big Happy Birthday to myself! Then Barbara said, ?¢‚Ǩ?ìYou could draw a picture and say this is your coloring page for this week.?¢‚Ǩ¬ù I said it would have to be considered abstract art (since my drawing skills are not that great) and let everyone make it what they want it to be.

Then it occurred to me that worship is kind of like abstract art. We make it what we want it to be. We all look at it differently and we all get something different from it. Each generation has its own view and perspective on how worship should look. Some like to worship God with more outward expressions such as uplifted hands or by clapping their hands to a song while some enjoy the more quiet inward expressions or worshiping through acts of servanthood.

We all interpret worship in different ways and one way is not better than the other as long as we are truly worshiping our Holy God. Because His favorite song is the song his children sing, the most important thing is that we never stop worshiping God in spirit and in truth. ?¢‚Ǩ?ìGod is Spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.?¢‚Ǩ¬ù (John 4:24) We serve an awesome and mighty God and he deserves our praise. God Bless and Keep You, Lanny
