Shortly after a writing is published, it is not unusual for the author to go on some kind of “book tour.” Colleges, universities, business seminars, and book stores, will fly in these writers to hear them talk in further detail about the subject of their recent publication.

You will be excited to learn that, for the next five Wednesday nights, we are presenting the authors of our February Adult and Youth Sunday School Literature! These writers are uniquely qualified to share about their topic and how to best present the Bible Study material in a class setting. Presentations will take place in the Sanctuary at 6:00 p.m. following our season of prayer. All Sunday School teachers and members should attend.

Actually, the authors of our February Bible Study lessons are Michael Gunter, Kyle Wiltshire, and me. The previous paragraph was a weak attempt to glamorize these studies more than they merit. Still, we believe that these times of sharing will enhance the effectiveness of our Bible Study during February. Your class and class leadership is encouraged to participate. Here is our schedule:

January 28 Jay McCluskey Evangelism
February 4 Michael Gunter Discipleship
February 11 Kyle Wiltshire Fellowship
February 18 Kyle Wiltshire Ministry
February 25 Jay McCluskey Worship

Sir Winston Churchill once observed: At any moment in history, the world is in the hands of two percent of the people: the excited and the committed. I think the great Prime Minister was quite accurate in this observance. Enthusiasm and commitment are behind much of life’s accomplishments. Excitement gets things started. Excitement sees the possibilities ahead. Dedication keeps the work going, especially when discouragements arrive. Together, they make a great combination.

Excitement and commitment are also essential elements for a healthy church. We need emotional passion teamed with a dedicated resolve in order to accomplish God’s will. As we enter into our final week before launching February’s Five Fundamental Foundational Functions (F5), may we continue to raise both our excitement and our commitment. Pray that we will complete these weeks with even higher levels of inspiration and devotion.

Excited and Committed toward seeing you Sunday

Hanging of the Green
6:00 p.m., Sunday, November 30
Hanging of the Green is a worship service centered around the songs and symbols of the Holiday Season. As the Sanctuary is decorated with sights and sounds, worshipers see how candles, greenery, poinsettias, manger scenes, and other objects become part of our Christmas traditions.
