Pastor's Page

Posted on February 4, 2004 ...

Our Five Functions in February celebration got off to a great start last Sunday! Attendance was strong and the worship, Bible Study, and Discipleship times were well received. Outreach and evangelism are essential to the long-term life and ministry of a church.

I hope you remember that one of my goals for this year is to compile a list of 1000 unchurched individuals along with their addresses, telephone numbers, and/or email addresses. We will use this list for special mailings, invitations to key events, and to help us intercede for these folks in prayer.

One thousand names is quite a list. And it would be incredibly challenging for your pastor and church staff to acquire this list without your help. But I am confident that our active membership is acquainted with at least a thousand people who have not attended any local church in the past year. This Sunday, we will begin asking you to submit information to our office regarding the unchurched people you know. Why don’t you take a moment right now to write down names and contact information to bring with you Sunday.

I believe that the Lord wants to use our congregation to contribute something worthwhile and enriching to these lives. By letting us know how to reach them, you are giving us a way to tell them that we care. It may make an eternity of difference in their lives.

A thousand meters is a kilometer
A thousand dollars is a “grand”
A thousand megahertz is a “gig”
A thousand prospects is a means of keeping us true to our first function.

The church exists for those who do not attend.
