Pastor's Page

Posted on September 16, 2004 ...

We read it every Sunday morning on the announcements projected before our worship service. Alongside a sketch of our church steeple are the words: The Church Exists For Those Who Do Not Attend It. It is true. While we are called to show love to one another, congregations have a special responsibility to touch those beyond its walls. Otherwise we fail to fulfill Jesus’ Great Commission and our duty to be salt and light in a world needing our influence. Your help is needed in a ministry designed to help us touch lives in our community.

At next Friday’s football game between Cleveland High School and Bradley Central High School, our church is going to distribute Fan Signs to help those in attendance cheer on their teams. Are you planning to attend the game? Can you give part of that evening to our church’s efforts to touch people in our community? With your help, we can make contact with thousands of lives in Bradley County. In the days following, we will make a follow up communication with the unchurched people we meet.

North Cleveland Baptist Church is also sponsoring a free drawing for a football autographed by University of Tennessee Head Coach Phil Fulmer. You can register online to win!

Will you join me? Mark the place on this Sunday’s Worship Registration Form and I will contact you about when and where to meet. (We will have a similar presence at the Cleveland High School game verses Walker Valley High School on October 22.) Thanks.

Hanging of the Green
6:00 p.m., Sunday, November 30
Hanging of the Green is a worship service centered around the songs and symbols of the Holiday Season. As the Sanctuary is decorated with sights and sounds, worshipers see how candles, greenery, poinsettias, manger scenes, and other objects become part of our Christmas traditions.
