Last Monday the church staff gathered for our semi-annual calendaring meeting. Twice a year we all sit down to schedule, coordinate, and synchronize the events, activities, and ministries of our church. I must confess, that while none of us honestly look forward to this event, it is one of the most essential staff meetings of our year.

Among the new items placed on this year’s calendar are four special editions of our weekly newsletter, The Evangel. These four issues will feature a broader description of our church’s ministry than the week-to-week reports in our usual format. They are scheduled to be produced and mailed just before our congregation’s most significant seasons: Easter, Summer, Fall Kick-Off, and the Christmas Holidays. In addition to our regular mailing list, we want to send these to people who are unchurched and/or interested in knowing more about the ministries of our congregation.

The first issue goes out in early March (leading up to Easter). In the weeks between now and then, our goal is to develop the mailing list of homes that will receive these special editions. This is where you can make a significant contribution to this endeavor. Will you help us secure the names and addresses of some people who do not have a church home or may be interested in more information about some of our special ministries such as VBS, Youth Camp, Musical Services, etc.?

During the weeks ahead, our Worship Registration Form will include a place where you can communicate names and addresses for this special mailing list. Of course, you can always call our church office to give this information. I believe that everyone knows of at least ONE person or home that would benefit from this touch. Will you make a conscious effort to bring that name and address with you this Sunday? I look forward to seeing you then.
