Did you know our church Annex is the Tuesday night gathering place for a local quilting group? Ladies with a common love for this stitching faithfully meet to quilt, share ideas, and simple enjoy each other’s company. Several months ago I asked them if they would honor us by displaying some of their quilts for our congregation. I was delighted by their receptivity to this idea and the opportunity for our church family to see their creations. And, of course, there are many other people in our church who also pride themselves in a wide variety of hobbies and crafts.
On Sunday night, January 30, I will be preaching on a New Testament character who’s handiwork endeared her to her church. Then, following our evening worship service, there will be a special Hobby And Craft Fair in our Annex. The quilter’s group will be here that evening to showcase some of their favorite pieces. I invite you to join them by displaying your talents and abilities. Can you bring a sample of some items you collect like coins, stamps, baseball cards, antiques, etc? (I am going to bring some pieces from my family’s collection of nativity scenes.) Can you feature examples of your handiwork such as sewing, cross-stitch, photography, pottery, woodworking, model cars, knitting, painting, writing, etc?
As King David instructed Solomon about building the temple, he said this about the people: And every willing person, skilled in any craft, will help you in all the work. (1 Chronicles 28:21) Will you help in this work? If so, please contact the church office as soon as possible so sufficient arrangements can be made. And even if you do not contribute something to this Fair, I hope you will be in attendance that evening to see and learn more about our church family.
