The children’s television show, “Sesame Street,” features a segment that asks the musical question: Who Are the People in Your Neighborhood? Well, do YOU know the people in YOUR neighborhood? I have lived at my current address for over eight years, and I confess that I do not know by name many of the families who live beyond the closest homes to mine. So, last week, I got online and went to www.infospace.com. From there I typed in my name and “Cleveland, TN”. It quickly showed me my full address, telephone number, and even a map to my house! That screen then gave me the option to find my neighbors. With the click of a mouse I saw the names and addresses of many of the people who live near me. Next, I took that list and noted the people who I either did not know at all or did not know their church affiliation. Later, I asked Jeanne Franklin to add those names to the database of homes receiving the special newsletter we will be producing in a couple of weeks.
This Special Edition of The Evangel is scheduled for delivery during the first week of March. It will be designed to inform readers about our church’s activities during March, April, and May. Our hope is to get this Evangel into the hands of people who may be looking for a church hosting a Good Friday service or a congregation to worship with on Easter Sunday. Perhaps they will be interested in participating in some of the many activities that will occur in our church during these months such as our Worship Festival, Men’s Breakfast, Concerts, Car Maintenance Day, Healthy Family Conference, Hikes, Picnics, or our Sonshine Festival.
We have been asking for several weeks for your help at providing our office with a database of names for this mailing. Time is starting to run out! Do not miss this opportunity to share about our ministries with someone. If you need, do a little research online or elsewhere to find the necessary addresses. (Need internet access? Feel free to come by the church and use ours.) Then call them into our church office or turn them in Sunday on our worship registration form.
I am excited about what lies ahead of us. Let’s tell others about it!
Pastor’s P.S. Thank your for the extra prayers you extended on my behalf during the challenges of last week. In every way, your encouragement is a treasure to me.
