This week marked the beginning of the work for our new Strategic Planning Committee. For several months the need for such a team has been discussed in our monthly deacon’s meetings. With our campaign to retire our church indebtedness behind us, we are at a good place in our church’s life to consider where we are and where we should be headed. Through the suggestions of our deacons, the following nine people agreed to serve on this committee and were elected at our April Business Meeting:

Sam Bettis
Naomi Gibson
Scott Franklin
Angela Patterson
Clifford Plemons
Carolyn Goins
Jo Miller
Michael Galloway
Jeff Elliott

Sam Bettis has agreed to serve as Chairman of this team. Also, our ministerial staff will work along with this group as they go through their process.

Their assignment is three-fold:
» Perform a comprehensive study and evaluation of the People, Ministries, and Facilities of our church.
» Set goals for our church for the next 3 to 5 years.
» Design and recommend specific methods for accomplishing these goals.

The aim of this Strategic Planning Committee’s schedule is that a proposed plan will be presented to the church for adoption by late summer or early in the autumn. During these months you will hear from this team in numerous ways. Progress reports will be given at Business Meetings and other forums. You may find that your input is requested in the form of a survey or an interview or a discussion group. When asked, I trust that you will give your full cooperation and assistance. They are eager to hear any of your thoughts, opinions, and ideas regarding our church’s present and future. I also trust that you will routinely lift them up in prayer. Through the prophet Jeremiah the Lord tells us:

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

The Lord already has a wonderful future planned for North Cleveland Baptist Church. The quest of our church now is to search out HIS plans and direct our congregation’s path to follow them. See you Sunday.
