Next week our Women on Mission will be featuring several nights of mission studies featuring ministries of the Tennessee Baptist Convention. North Cleveland Baptist Church is a proud part of over 2900 churches across our state that work together in a wide variety of ministries. In fact, our church is routinely recognized as one of the highest churches in per capita giving to the Tennessee Baptist Convention. It has been my privilege to serve in several leadership roles within our state convention. Did you know that Brenda Harris and Heather Wilson, former NCBC members, are a part of the administrative staff of the Tennessee Baptist Convention? Indeed, our church's ties to the TBC are strong.
One expression of support for the Tennessee Baptist Convention has been through our Golden Offering for State Missions. This offering is received in September and October of each year. Last year our church gave our highest offering ever, over $2,700.00. This year we set our sights toward a goal that will establish a new record, $3,000.00.
Currently, the most widely publicized ministry of the attention is our Disaster Relief Team work in numerous areas afflicted by Hurricane Katrina. Gifts in past years to the Golden Offering for State Missions helped purchase the vehicles, food units, shower units, and training materials being utilized today in the gulf region of our nation by Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief Teams. In addition, one half of all funds received through this offering is used toward the planting of new congregations in Tennessee.
In short, your gifts to the Golden Offering for State Missions is a worthwhile investment into the work of God's Kingdom. If you still need convincing (or even if you don't) you are welcome to attend our Week of Prayer for State Missions' activities next week. Sessions will meet in the Annex on Monday and Tuesday night at 6:30 and on Wednesday night at 6:00.
See you Sunday with another sermon looking at a question Jesus asked
