The message on my monitor read as follows: You do not have sufficient administrative rights to carry out this operation. I was also told that I should consult the System Administrator for further assistance in this matter.
Today?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s technological advances in computer and network software accommodate situations where more than one person utilizes the same computer. Therefore, one of the first questions your computer now asks as it ?¢‚Ǩ?ìboots up?¢‚Ǩ¬ù is the User?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s Name. Individual computer users can now install specific programs and set up the computer to his or her personal preferences. Thus, the response to this initial inquiry determines not only the appearance of your desktop but also which computer operations you may access. Note that only the person who can log in as the ADMINISTRATOR has full access to ALL of the computer?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s operations.
Seeing the computer message informing me of my insufficient administrative rights got me thinking: Who has the ?¢‚Ǩ?ìAdministrative Rights?¢‚Ǩ¬ù to my life? The simple answer to that question is that I do. Indeed, I have the freedom to make choices regarding the use of my time, talent, and resources. But the next question that occurred to me was the essential one: Will I keep these rights for myself alone, or will I give them up to another? This is the Lordship Question! As Christians we place our faith in Jesus not only for our salvation but also for guidance through all our days.
"If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it."
Mark 8:34b-35 NIV
In essence, we are called to give Him the Administrative Rights to our lives. While this is not an easy thing to give, in faith we know that it is the right and wise thing to do.
Who has the ?¢‚Ǩ?ìAdministrative Rights?¢‚Ǩ¬ù to YOUR life?
