A few years ago, I learned that in modern Israel the traditional day for weddings to take place is Tuesdays. The rationale behind this goes back to the creation story recorded in Genesis chapter one. This chapter says that throughout the creative process, God pauses to evaluate His work. The assessment He gives is described in this daily repeated phrase: And God saw that it was good. However, the third day of creation (our Tuesday) is unique in that TWICE on this day God saw that it was good. Therefore, the thought emerged that Tuesdays are somehow ?¢‚Ǩ?ìtwice blessed?¢‚Ǩ¬ù and that it is a good omen for marriage ceremonies to take place on this day.
At North Cleveland Baptist Church, Tuesdays have a special double blessing, too. First, after a break for the summer, our Early Risers Bible Study is meeting again on Tuesday mornings. If you are prone to get up early and your schedule permits, I welcome you to join with us. We meet at Panera Bread on Paul Huff Parkway at 7:00 a.m., sharing in coffee, prayer, and Bible Study. Some attendees even include a bite of breakfast! Currently, we are covering a passage each week from the Book of Acts. It is a great way to begin our day. While you are welcome to bring your Bible, copies of our study text are provided each week. All we need is your presence!
Tuesday?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s second blessing occurs in our Tuesday night prayer ministry. Under the guidance of Stephanie Jones, a faithful group gathers at 6:30 p.m. in the first classroom in the Annex for an intimate time of heartfelt prayer. While most of our prayers are for people other than those doing the actual prayer, participants always will leave with a sense of God?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s blessing upon our lives and our church.
Indeed! Tuesdays at North Cleveland Baptist Church are doubly blessed. We welcome and close the day with acclamations of and petitions to God?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s wonderful acts of grace. As the psalm says, It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High, to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night, Psalm 92:1-2
Certainly, God looks down upon these times and sees that it is good. Jay
