Posted on November 2, 2006 ...

I was downtown one day last week to attend a meeting regarding our booth at this year?「どィび「s block party. After the meeting adjourned, I decided to redeem the trip by going to the Courthouse Annex in early voting. During that time I proudly cast my vote in favor of amending our state constitution to define marriage as the legal union between a woman and a man. As you go to the polls next week, I encourage you to do the same. You should also note that passage of this measure does NOT require that a simple majority of votes cast on this question be attained. Instead, passage requires that the total votes cast in favor of this amendment must be a number representing a majority of votes cast in the governor?「どィび「s race. Therefore, if you cast a vote in the election for governor but fail to vote on the marriage amendment, it is the same as voting AGAINST the marriage amendment.

This Sunday evening?「どィび「s worship time features a couple of special blessings. We will begin the service with a mini-concert from the Cleveland High School Gospel Choir. Then, at the close of the service our Facilities Study Committee will present a report to the church. This committee has been meeting since last May to develop a plan for the long-term future of our facilities. This Sunday night they will unveil proposed floor plans, site plans, and artist renderings featuring the possible look of our campus in the future. A week later, after our evening worship time on November 12, the Building Study Committee will host a question and answer time in the church Annex.

These are important days in many different ways. Be informed and be involved. See you Sunday. - Jay
