On Sunday night, February 18, after our evening worship service there will be a meeting for people who are interested in participating in a summer mission trip to Brazil. Tentative dates for this trip are July 23-31, 2007. Chris and Lori Heil have invited our church to send a team to work with them in their efforts to establish a new congregation in the region of Brazil in which they serve as International Mission Board missionaries. The purpose of our gathering on February 18th will be to share general information about this trip. Your attendance by no means places you under obligation to participate. So, if you desire to know more about this endeavor and if you will make this mission a matter of prayer, you are encouraged to attend. The meeting will take place in the Annex. If for some reason you cannot participate on this evening, please contact the office and we will forward the information along to you.
Each week there is increasing excitement as our sanctuary transformation continues. Thank you for your flexibility with the sights, smells, and dust of construction. At the beginning of our 11:00 worship service last Sunday, I was standing in front of Connie Earby. She tapped me on the shoulder and showed me that I had dust all along the shoulder and sleeve of my jacket. (I must have leaned against the wrong thing.) Thus, if you saw your pastor last Sunday morning being slapped on the shoulder by this deacon?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s wife during the opening song, note that she was just trying to help me look presentable! Such are the aggravations of progress.
Later this month, we will enter our final and most dramatic phase of this makeover. We ask for your patience as the sanctuary becomes more of a construction zone. Be ready to worship without carpet on the floor, without the pews being anchored down, and with a supply of dust in the air. Again, thanks for your patience. It will be worth it all when the work is complete.
Speaking of completion, again I hope that funding for our sanctuary renovations will be complete before the end of this month. To date, we still need approximately $4000.00. Gifts designated for this project should be placed in Faith for the Future envelopes or should include a designation for ?¢‚Ǩ?ìSanctuary Renovation?¢‚Ǩ¬ù.
It is good to be a part of these exciting times. Jay
