You are probably familiar with a version of the adage that says, The only thing you can consistently depend upon is change. While we find great comfort in those things that prove to be stable and reliable, reality shows that much of our world is in a steady state of change. Because it always includes an element of the unknown, the thought of change can trigger feelings of fear and reluctance. Yet I find that people will welcome change when they believe that positive outcomes will result.
Our sanctuary is now in a state of change. Frankly, on weekdays the building feels and sounds more like a construction zone than a worship center. Plywood, equipment, ceiling tiles, wiring, construction teams, lighting, etc. are all around. Yet on Sunday the familiar senses of worship come alive again with the presence of worshippers and sounds of praise.
I thank you again for your patience during this time of transition. We happily tolerate the inconveniences because we believe that the changes are for the better. Shortly, the construction will be complete, the reupholstered pew cushions will return, and the new carpet will be in place.
Toward that end, be sure to mark Sunday, April 1, on your calendars. Our morning worship that day will be a celebration service dedicating our remodeled sanctuary.
And speaking of change, we are now in a transition time regarding our church staff. After more than ten years of service to our preschool ministry, Saundra Randolph has recently completed her employment with us. I appreciate so much the humble and servant-hearted way that Saundra carried out her duties to our preschoolers and their families. This Sunday, you will have the opportunity to show your gratitude to Saundra through a love offering. Please take every opportunity to express your thanks to her for a job well done. Also, I hope you will welcome our new Director of Preschool Ministries, Amanda Harrington. Amanda joins our church staff after serving in preschool leadership at First Baptist Church, Cleveland.
Finally, Barbara Holt, our Membership Secretary, shared recently her decision to resign in order to address pressing family matters. She will complete her duties at the end of the month.
So, as you see, there are not many dull moments around here lately. But with every change is the opportunity for God to bless in a new way. Jay
