Each one of us has the desire to be loved, liked, and valued. What do you think is the value of your life? What are you worth? This question can be approached in various ways.
There is the financial answer.
If you have ever purchased life insurance, you have probably wrestled with the question of how much insurance to buy. Conscientious consumers must put a dollar value on their lives as they ponder: If I suddenly died, what financial needs would exist for those who depend upon me? Another formula might value a life by estimating that person?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s potential earnings for the remainder of his or her lifetime. Still others may calculate their net worth.
There is the attention answer.
Our society places higher value on some people more than others by the attention given to them. Good looks, athletic abilities, and entertaining talents are key criteria on this scale.
There is the power answer.
In short, the greater one?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s ability to influence, the more value put on that person?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s life.
There is the association answer.
Appear to be associated with the right people and your ?¢‚Ǩ?ìstock goes up.?¢‚Ǩ¬ù
Better yet is the SACRIFICIAL ANSWER.
What would someone be willing to sacrifice for you? THIS is a far superior tool for assessing the value of your life. People with a healthy sense of self-esteem recognize and affirm the sacrifices made on their behalf. The result is a perspective of both honor and humility.
This week we look to the sacrifice of the cross and see the great value God has for us. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 NIV
What is your life worth? Look to the cross. Jesus loves you and died for you. There is your answer. Jay
