Pastor's Page

Posted on April 27, 2007 ...

This Sunday morning we have an opportunity that North Cleveland Baptist Church has not experienced in 40 years! As far as I know, the last time that our church family gathered on a Sunday morning for worship in a location OTHER than 2815 North Ocoee Street was 1967! For three months that year our sanctuary was under major renovations. During that time, NCBC worshipped in the auditorium of old Bradley Central High School (now Ocoee Middle School.)

Some are probably wondering why we are meeting off campus for our Celebration of Generations. Primarily, it is a matter of facility size. First, this allows us the rare privilege for our entire Sunday morning assembly to worship in the same place at the same time. We are looking for a large gathering at this event. On Sunday mornings when our attendance is extra high, there simply is not enough room in our sanctuary to hold everyone.

Also, part of this celebration is to enjoy the fellowship of a complimentary church-wide meal. Again, our Annex does not have space to accommodate this many people.

A major element of successful ministry can be summed up in two simple words: Being There. I have found that, what you DO or SAY in ministry is not nearly as important as your PRESENCE. As your pastor, I pray that God enables me to be there when my church family needs me.

Now, I am asking you to be there. North Cleveland Baptist Church needs your presence this Sunday at this Celebration of Generations! Our worship will feature every generation of our congregation. A special church video will be premiered. And each of us will have the privilege of submitting a confidential commitment stating the way that God has answered this prayer in your life: Lord, what do you want to do through me for a Future Generation?

Be there for your church.
Be there for yourself.
But mostly, be there for the Lord!

Pastor?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s P.S. I visited with Nancy Paul in the hospital on Monday following her major surgery last week. (Is there anything such as ?¢‚Ǩ?ìminor surgery?¢‚Ǩ¬ù?) Nancy told me that her goal was to recover quickly enough to attend Sunday?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s Celebration of Generations. Nancy?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s dedication is an inspiration to us all to be there.
