Pastor's Page
The beginning of a new Sunday School year is a good time to make a New Year?「どィび「s Resolution to be faithful and active in your congregation?「どィび「s activities. As a pastor (and a pastor?「どィび「s son), I am an avid believer in the benefits of active church participation.
When you have a strong conviction like this one I hold, it is always rewarding to discover evidence that backs up what you believe and practice. For example, in a news release last month, Baptist Press reported on a study conducted by John P. Barkowski and a team of researchers at Mississippi State University. The data used was from interviews of 9,500 parents and teachers of first-graders. Bartkowski and his team concluded that religious attendance quite clearly impacted children positively. The study says, Religion does seem to be good for young children. The religious attendance of parents and a cohesive religious environment in the home yields significant benefits for children?「どィび「s behavioral, emotional, and cognitive development, and such outcomes are most pronounced when both parents attend services frequently.
Parents sincerely desiring to raise well balanced, mature, and solid young adults would be wise to heed this study?「どィび「s advice. Do not merely send your children to church?「どィャカbring them with you. Make it a fixed part of your family?「どィび「s schedule. The benefits are clear.
In your home, do you ever hear this question on a Sunday morning: Are we going to church today? If you do, beware! Just the mere presence of that inquiry is an indication of inconsistency in your family?「どィび「s church attendance arrangements.
Our church leaders will gladly make this covenant with you. With God?「どィび「s help, we will make every effort to teach, worship, and minister in ways that are relevant and beneficial to you and your family. Will you, for both your own good and the well being of your children, establish and maintain a faithful pattern of church involvement? The benefits are well worth the investment. See you Sunday. Be here.
