Pastor's Page
In early June, I received a telephone call from Lorane Harris. Lorane shared that she and Cotton were about to mark the 60th anniversary of the day they became members of North Cleveland Baptist Church. That is an impressive feat. It is a rare thing for a person to be a part of the same congregation for such a prolonged time. I was motivated to research the names of others among our active membership who also share such longevity. By my count, there are about 40 active and/or homebound members of our church whose tenure as NCBC members exceeds 50 consecutive years! WOW! This discovery, in turn, inspired the theme for our church anniversary: a celebration of members through all the periods of our heritage.
During this Sunday's 70th Anniversary, we will give tribute to each decade of our church's history. Testimonies will describe each of these seasons of our heritage and our worship music will reflect songs introduced or popular during each decade. You are welcome even to dress in the fashion that was popular when you first came to our church!
Our church Annex features a timeline for people to write significant dates in their relationship with our church such as when they joined, when they were baptized, or when they got married in our church. Be sure your story is marked!
Also this Sunday we will all be wearing Name Tags. There is a different Name Tag designed for each decade that people came to our church: (1930's, 1940's, 1950's, etc.) They will be available at the entrances to the Sanctuary and the Annex. Wear yours proudly!
All friends of North Cleveland Baptist are welcome on this wonderful day. Remember our special schedule and plan to stay for our lunch and the dedication of our amphitheater. I can't wait! I'll see you there! Jay
Pastor's P.S. This Sunday a special Anniversary Offering will be received to go toward the cost of our new amphitheater. Your gifts will compliment the contribution of many hours of manpower that have gone into this project.
