Pastor's Page
When I was a child growing up in Knoxville, it was a big deal to be seen on video. Only a handful of families I knew made home movies. These required an eight-millimeter camera and a projector that would just as likely chew up your film as show it. But the ultimate video notoriety was to be on TELEVISION. In the 1960's I made a few appearances in the audience of The Popeye Show and The Bozo Show. These were locally produced afternoon broadcasts for kids. You wanted all your family and friends to be watching that day to see your big moment. (The word moment is accurate in that a moment constituted the amount of time I actually was on camera.) By contrast, today, with digital media, streaming video, and the advent of websites such as YouTube, video is instantaneous and everywhere.
Gradually the video age is coming to our church ministries. A few weeks ago I wrote about recording our morning worship services onto DVD's. This continues to be a useful offering to our homebound members and to those who want a visual record of any particular worship hour. By the way, I need some volunteer camera operators to help enhance the quality of our video recordings. No experience is necessary. Please contact me if you are interested.
In recent weeks we have worked toward posting streaming video of sermons onto the internet. (Music copyright laws prevent us from making the entire worship hour available online). Now, anyone with high-speed internet access can watch a recent sermon delivered at North Cleveland Baptist Church. The home page of our church website (www.ncbctn.com) allows you to watch our most recently uploaded sermon video. Also going to www.blip.tv and typing "North Cleveland Baptist" in the search box gives access to other past messages.
While this is neither broadcast television nor even cable TV, it does expand the availability of our messages and ministries to a wider audience. Enjoy watching and tell your friends!
