Posted on December 7, 2007 ...

When I came as pastor of North Cleveland Baptist Church in August of 1986, a proposal was in development to replace the plain frosted glass windows in our sanctuary with stained glass windows. In fact, one of the first gatherings I remember attending in this church, other than a worship service, was an information meeting about this project. A design was proposed with windows depicting the life of Jesus. There was excitement in the room when the design was unveiled. I remember someone saying how wonderful it would be to have the windows installed by Christmas. Ultimately the church did vote to undertake this project on August 27, 1986. Through a special offering held on October 17, 1986 the North Cleveland Baptist Church family quickly and generously contributed sufficient funds to purchase and install our windows. The new stained glass windows were set in place in early December, in time for our Christmas celebration.

A year later, in December of 1987, I recognized the first anniversary of this addition by beginning a sermon series based upon each scene in these windows. Now, twenty years later, I am again planning my preaching for the next months around the stories of Jesus portrayed in these scenes. The series will carry us from His nativity, through His ministry, to His crucifixion, resurrection, ascension, and promised return.
A walk through the life and ministry of Jesus is one of the most valuable journeys a Christian can take. I urge you to be faithful in worship attendance as we take a closer look at our Savior. In doing so we will gain greater value of who He is and our understanding of how to follow Him. Jay

Pastor's P.S. Remember the proposed adoption of both our church 2008 budget and the 2008 budget of our Weekday Childcare Ministry is on the agenda of the December 12, 2007 Business Meeting.
