Pastor's Page

Posted on January 4, 2008 ...

I'm writing these words on New Year's Eve. At the threshold of a new year it is exciting to think and pray interesting characteristic of the coming year is that it projects to be an outstanding year in the area of church stewardship. This, of course, is due to the above and beyond giving to our For a Future Generation Building Fund. Since May 2007 over $275,000 has been given to this cause. (We expect architectural drawings to be completed in early 2008. Afterwards, our Building Committee will work to formulate a process for implementing our facility goals.)
In 2008 we will experience a full year of For a Future Generation giving. These gifts, combined with our budget offerings and special mission offerings should well result in our church's highest ever year in giving!
As we begin the New Year, our most immediate stewardship challenge relates to funding our regular operating budget. For only the second time in my tenure as pastor, our church completed the year in a budget deficit. Specifically, operating expenses exceeded our budget gifts by about $19,500.00.
On Sunday morning I will share with you some words from my heart regarding our financial goals for 2008. One key emphasis will be the importance of getting the 2008 budget year off to a strong start. Please join me in praying that the Holy Spirit will lead people to give faithfully and graciously toward operating our ministries. As in all our best ministries, our church's financial health is a collective effort of our entire church family. Together, with God's help, we can meet all our challenges.
I am looking forward to sharing the promises of the New Year with you. Jay
