This Sunday we recognize is a Super Sunday as we encourage and promote Bible Study attendance for all our classes. A couple of weeks ago I challenged everyone to write a statement saying I commit to being in Bible Study on February 3 U.P.H. The initials U.P.H. stands for Unless Providentially Hindered. This is a formal way of acknowledging that some things beyond our control do happen that deter our plans. However, baring one of these providentially hindering occurrences, I know you will make every effort both to attend Sunday morning AND to bring others with you. Personally, I'm an avid believer in the value of church attendance. In recent years I have read of various studies showing that the lifestyles and values of those who call themselves Christians are no different than those of non-Christians. Of course, this is troublesome. However, more specific studies have shown that people who not only identify themselves as Christians but also attend church ministries regularly (especially weekly) are more likely to experience enduring marriages, stable families, better health, more responsible behavior, and overall happier lives. Certainly, there are exceptions to this rule. Still the evidence shows that regular church attendance is a discipline that is quite likely to return solid benefits in our lives and families. Resolve NOW not only to be in attendance THIS Sunday, but EVERY Sunday U.P.H. Try to eliminate the question, "Are we going to church today?" from the Sunday dialogue in your home. Let the assumption become that church attendance is a habitual part of your family's routine. In doing so you will regularly be exposed to life's greatest message and highest values. See you Sunday!
