Pastor's Page
This Sunday our church has a rare and special honor. At the request of Westwood Baptist Church we will host the ordination service of one of our outstanding young men, Nolan Rumble. Nolan will soon be joining the youth ministry staff at Westwood Baptist Church. While Nolan and Cara's departure from our church is sorrowful, it is also a high compliment that God has called one out of our midst to be about His work thru vocational ministry. An ordination council will convene in the Annex Sunday afternoon at 5:00. At this time we will dialogue with Nolan regarding his conversion, call, and doctrine. All ordained deacons or ministers are encouraged to participate in this gathering. The ordination service itself will be held in the Sanctuary at 6:00 p.m. Also, on Sunday night a table of books and other ministerial resources will be set up in the Welcome Center. Those who would like to offer an affirmation to Nolan are welcome to purchase one of these as a gift to help establish his ministerial library. Also, this Sunday will be the last day we will have the envelopes in our pew racks for the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions. To date we are 82% of the way toward our goal of $7,500.00. If you are like me, there are numerous unfinished projects in your lives. However, I usually quit on these projects early, long before they ever get near completion. When I'm over 4/5ths of the way done, I know I have come too far to stop. Our church is too close to this goal to fall short now. The remaining amount is easily within our ability. Let's finish the task this week. Speaking of finishing, last week I completed the series of thirty sermons based upon the Bible scenes portrayed in our Sanctuary's stained glass windows. On May 4, we will begin a new series of worship services that focus on issues related to family relationships. Aside from our salvation, no area of our lives is as important as our family ties. This series will occur on Sunday mornings and carry on through Father's Day. It is good to be your pastor. Jay
