This week marks the beginning of our second year of giving to our For a Future Generation campaign. To remind you, For a Future Generation giving goes to fund the future facility plan adopted by our church in November of 2006. These plans include a new multi-purpose building as well as renovations to the Education Building and the Sanctuary basement. At last week's banquet celebrating this anniversary, we remembered the dreams that began more than three years ago and are coming closer and closer to reality. Here are some statistics regarding our first year of For a Future Generation giving: ?Ǭ? Pledges have been received from 220 people representing about 120 households ?Ǭ? Total Pledged - $763,337.00 ?Ǭ? Given to date - $349,931.59 (around 45% of the amount pledged) ?Ǭ? Cash on hand - $246,005.08 (of which $11,500.00 is committed to closing architectural fees) ?Ǭ? 95% of For a Future Generation gifts have come from pledged gifts ?Ǭ? 5% of For a Future Generation gifts have come from unpledged gifts. Currently, much activity is taking place regarding our building process. On April 28, bids from five area general contractors regarding the construction projects were submitted to our Building Committee. Thankfully, these bids were within our anticipated range. Further data and dialogue has been exchanged between the Building Committee and the more promising contractors. This Sunday night, May 18, the Building Committee, Stewardship Committee, and our Board of Directors are meeting following the evening worship service. The purpose of this meeting is to define a proposal to bring to the church regarding the amount of construction to pursue. A special business meeting to address this question will likely be held in early June. As is our custom, informational question and answer gatherings would be held in advance of any major business meeting. In the meantime, please continue to pray for our church as we approach important and exciting decisions. Also, keep alert for future announcements regarding these endeavors. It is good to be your pastor. Jay
