Student Ministry
This has been an eventful past few weeks for me. Beginning with my engagement, followed by the In-Treat, and Thanksgiving. I’ve felt like I’ve been going a hundred miles an hour. I know now that the Christmas season has arrived, things aren’t going to slow down either. In spite of my busyness, I felt a great sense of peace and calm on Sunday night at the Hanging of the Green worship celebration. Being able to sit back and enjoy the music, sing the familiar hymns, and watch as the candlelight enveloped the sanctuary, I was reminded of the real reason for the season.
Of course Jesus’ birth is the reason we as Christians celebrate Christmas. We celebrate because God became a human being and made His dwelling among us. We rejoice because our Creator thought enough of His creation that He would provide a way to redeem it. We are filled with awe and wonder because of the love that is made so plain and evident in the coming of Christ. We are filled with joy when we pause to consider what our eternity will be filled with because of Jesus and His sacrifice. It is so appropriate that Thanksgiving and Christmas are so close together, because thankful is the best way to describe our emotions toward Christmas.
Everyone will be busy this season, there’s just no way to get around it. However, we can acknowledge Christ’s place in this time of year by honoring Him through our stewardship of His money, loving our neighbor, and worshipping Him in spirit and in truth. Find a way to pause and be thankful during this Christmas season, in spite of the busyness.
***I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank a few people whose help at the In-Treat was invaluable. Thank you to Susie Webb, Jessica Mason, Alex Sturgill, the Moore family, and Michael Gunter for giving of your time, video cameras, cars, homes, and energy.***
