Student Ministry

Posted on February 4, 2004 ...

This week for our F5 emphasis we will be exploring the function of Discipleship. As I mentioned in my column last time, Disciple Now is coming up very soon (March 19-21). Discipleship is one of the key ingredients for that weekend- hence the name Disciple Now. While a true disciple of Christ cannot be fully formed in one weekend, a singular event like D-Now can shape the life of a young believer in a dramatic fashion.

As of now, I have just about all the host homes lined up. I would like to thank the church family for your quick response to my request for volunteers. Very soon I’ll be contacting each of you who have offered your home to let you know which group will be staying with you. Now my attention turns to co-hosts. The concept of co-hosts is new to me, but after a conversation with Matt Moore last week, I have a better understanding of what co-hosts do and how we have used them in the past. If you are interested in co-hosting please contact the church office and let me know. I am compiling a list now of volunteers in this area and I’d love to add your name to it!

I also want to ask you to begin praying for D-Now. Our students look forward to it all year and the Spirit of God truly does remarkable things during the weekend. As members of this church you can be a part of the work of God in our student ministry by giving of your time and energy during the weekend of Disciple Now and by spending time in prayer before it. I pray that you will let God use you and that He will be glorified in what we do together as a body of faith.
