Student Ministry
It’s hard for me to believe that I’ve been engaged for over three months now. It’s even harder to believe that in less than two months I’ll be married. Wow! I’m so excited… and nervous all at the same time. This reality, along with the fact that it’s February, has led me to ponder the greatness of love quite a bit. Of course in the Bible there is no better place to explore what love is all about than in I Corinthians 13 - The Love Chapter.
What I find interesting about this chapter is that it seems out of place in comparison to the context it’s surrounded by. Take a look for yourself; the chapters that come before and after the Love Chapter are about Spiritual Gifts. Spiritual Gifts? What do they have to do with love? Well, it appears that Paul, in writing this letter to the Christians in Corinth, wanted them to use their Spiritual Gifts for the building up of the Body and not for selfish gain or personal promotion. It seems that in Paul’s mind Spiritual Gifts are to be used to show each other love and to reveal our love for the Lord. Therefore, the Love Chapter and Spiritual Gifts go hand in hand.
This week the F5 emphasis is Ministry. God has given all Christians specific Spiritual Gifts for use in Ministry. We serve the Lord by serving each other. Therefore, I would like to give you an opportunity to show your love for this church and to use your Spiritual Gifts for the building up of this body called North Cleveland Baptist Church. Disciple Now is March 19-21 and we are collecting volunteers for various needs throughout the weekend. The ad on the announcement page gives more detail as to what type of help we need. Please pray about serving during Disciple Now. Use the gifts God has given you for the building up and Spiritual growth of our youth. If you are interested call the church office and let us know. Thank you in advance for your service and dedication to our church and young people.
