Student Ministry

Posted on August 4, 2004 ...

The summer is nearly over. Pretty soon it’ll be back to the grind of school. But, before we plunge headlong into a new school year, we still have one more order of business to tend to - the winners of our “Slump Busters” contest. Here is where we stand in the points race…

1st place- 11th and 12th grade = 99,000
2nd place- 7th and 8th grade = 98,000
3rd place- 9th and 10th grade = 77,000

As you can see it is pretty tight race. Next week will determine who will win the free trip to Six Flags!

Here are some details about the Six Flags trip. We will be leaving Saturday, August 14, at 8:00 am. We will stay until the park closes and return to Cleveland at about 10:00 pm that same evening. Remember, this trip is free for the winning class and for anyone who has had perfect attendance in Sunday School this summer. For anyone else who wants to go the cost will be $25. You must sign up by August 11, and pay by August 13. Also, everyone remember to bring a few extra bucks for lunch and dinner in the park.

For anyone who has been eight out of ten Sundays this summer you will receive a free CD. So far, there are fourteen students who meet this qualification. They are Jonathan Barrow, Randa Bunch, Ashley Daniel, Katie Hamilton, Luke Littrell, Amanda Martin, Daniel Martin, James McCluskey, John McCluskey, Grant Rumble, Sarah Beth Rumble, Heather Teague, Wil Young, and Brooke Ziegler. Make it one more Sunday and you get a free CD!

Hanging of the Green
6:00 p.m., Sunday, November 30
Hanging of the Green is a worship service centered around the songs and symbols of the Holiday Season. As the Sanctuary is decorated with sights and sounds, worshipers see how candles, greenery, poinsettias, manger scenes, and other objects become part of our Christmas traditions.
