Student Ministry
The new school year is here. I know that this is bittersweet for students. On one hand you get to be around old friends, make new friends, and have increased social opportunities. But, on the other hand you’ve got tests, homework, papers, and projects that go along with it. I guess starting school back up again is an example of the old phrase, “You can’t have your cake and eat it too.”
However, there is another way of looking at starting back to school. Studies have shown that if a person does not become a Christian by the age of 18, the chances significantly shrink of them ever accepting Christ as Savior and Lord. Coupled with this study is the fact that it is during the teenage years when we have the most contact with people who are not Christians. So while there are some parts of school that are a drag, other parts present us with an amazing opportunity.
I encourage you to look at your school as a mission field. There are hundreds of people right in front of you who need the love of God shown to them. You have a unique, once in a lifetime opportunity to really reach out to those who are lost and hurting. Take advantage of it, for the glory of God.
I’m excited about this fall. I’m working on some cool things for us to do so stay tuned. Continue to look for friends to invite to church, as this continues to be our emphasis in the month of August. Have a great week!
