Student Ministry
I’ve not had the chance to write in the Evangel since Disciple Now, but I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of the volunteers who made the weekend possible and to let the church family know what a great weekend it was. We had an incredible weekend and, like our theme, I feel like we had an ENCOUNTER with God. I hope that Disciple Now is not just a fun event or a fond memory, but is the beginning of the Lord doing new things in our individual hearts and in our Student Ministry.
I can’t thank our Host Home volunteers enough for the great job they did. Our host parents were the Barrow’s, Burke’s, Littrell’s, Martin’s, and Rumble’s. Giving up your living space, comfort, bedrooms, and bathrooms are some of the most selfless things a family can do and I thank you for your willingness to do so. You all get a Disciple Now shaped jewel in your crown in heaven.
Each and every year our Men’s I class has volunteered to make us breakfast on the Sunday morning of Disciple Now. This year was no exception. The food was out of this world. Our students love those biscuits and gravy and appreciate all the hard work put into feeding us. I appreciate the interest and concern this act of kindness shows to our young people. Thank you, men.
Disciple Now also can’t happen unless there is technical support and behind the scenes workers who give of their time and energy to make the weekend happen. I want to thank John Mark for helping out and doing such a professional job on the soundboard and CD player all weekend. Special thanks also goes to Lanny for running the Media Shout. To Brittnee Slaughter and Emily Lynn I also want to give a special thank you for all the work you did getting the t-shirts ready, lunch prepared on Saturday, and for all the little things you do to show love and kindness to our students. I can’t thank you enough.
Lastly I want to thank Joni for all of her support and help. She makes everything in my life better, but her mark and effort was undeniable in this year’s Disciple Now. I could not have made it without you!
