Student Ministry
For the past six months I have been privileged to serve on my first Tennessee Baptist Convention committee. This group was formed for the specific purpose of taking a look at Tennessee?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s Youth Evangelism Conference (YEC). I was chosen to serve on this committee for a very unique and distinct reason. What is the reason? I?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢ve never been to YEC! I?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢ve lived most of my life in Tennessee. For the entirety of that time I?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢ve been a Tennessee Baptist and yet still I?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢ve never been to YEC. Kent Shingleton, the TBC Youth Evangelism Specialist, wanted my input on the event because I am a blank slate. I have no preconceived notions or experience with YEC. So I have gladly served these past few months and tried to give good input.
With all of that said, this year I am going to end my streak. I?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢m going to YEC! And my hope is to take a bunch of our students as well. I know what is in store for this year (I helped plan it) and it?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s going to be awesome. Here are some of the details.
Transportation and lodging are arranged and provided for by the Bradley Baptist Association (thanks to Randy Bonner and his staff). We will meet March 3, at the Bradley Baptist building, load up the charter buses with other students from churches all over our county, travel down to Nashville together, and stay in the same hotel. Our students will probably have friends from school who go to other Baptist churches in the area going on this trip.
The cost is $30. I have reserved twenty spots and five hotel rooms with Randy and the BBA. So that means when we?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢re full, we?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢re full. That also means sign up fast because space is limited. I will give more details as we draw nearer to the event, but for now I wanted to let you know about our nearest ?¢‚Ǩ?ìbig?¢‚Ǩ¬ù event in the student ministry. --Kyle
