Student Ministry

Posted on August 2, 2007 ...

We had a great summer and now it's time to start getting back to our regular schedule during the school year. Beginning this Wednesday, August 1, we will meet in the Annex at 6:30 PM. Our kick-off for student worship will be Wednesday, August 15.

Also, I want to talk about our Student Leadership Team for a moment. We believe that God is calling students to be leaders. You may remember a young man by the name of Samuel. He was a "student" under the leadership of Eli. If you're not familiar with the story, let me give you a re-cap. Samuel, a student of Eli who did not yet know the Lord, was in the temple because the lamp of God had not yet gone out. Eli was asleep. God called Samuel several times and he confused the voice of God for the voice of Eli. Each time Samuel was called he went to Eli. Eli finally realized that it was God calling Samuel, so he instructed the young student to answer the Lord the next time he called with these words, "Speak Lord for your servant is listening." Samuel followed Eli's instruction and eventually the Lord spoke to him and allowed him to see visions.

It's important to realize that during this time the word of the Lord was rare and there were not many visions, so for God to speak at all was a BIG DEAL. For Him to speak to a young student, WOW! The bottom line... God sometimes chooses to speak to the younger generation rather than older generations. God often used young people to accomplish His plans.

We want to empower our students to be leaders who are sensitive to the Holy Spirit and God's plan for their lives and this Student Ministry. We are fully convinced that God wants us to lead our students by example, the example of His son Jesus Christ. If you would like to be considered for the Student Leadership Team at NCBC, please download and fill out an application.
